Associate teaching qualification programmes

The qualification for the associate teaching role is the Level 3 / 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS).

These programmes include the PTLLS at the start of the course and are suitable for teachers with fewer responsibilities than those in a full teaching role.

Level: 3 or 4, or may be higher if awarded by a university

Required amount of time for observed practice

At least 30 hours of teaching practice. There must be a minimum of 3 observations totalling a minimum of 3 hours.

Units of Assessment

Mandatory units:

• Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector = 6 credits
• ^*Planning and enabling learning = 9 Credits
• ^*Principles and practice of assessment = 3 credits

Optional units:

To the value of 6 credits (minimum)

• Level Three - 24 credits
• Level Four - 24 credits
